Zusammenfassung: | The Electronic Signatures in Global and National Commerce Act (E-SIGN), which was signed into law on June 30, 2000, and which takes effect on October 1, 2000, secures, for the first time, nationwide recognition for certain contracts signed, sealed, and delivered electronically. E-SIGN provides that contracts may be formed and signed electronically, and will enjoy the same validity as paper-and-ink agreements. The legislation even allows for online notarization, verification, and receipt acknowledgment, so that those protections may be afforded to electronic contracts where necessary. |
