Zusammenfassung:The Environmental Protection Agency is embarking on the task of comparative risk assessment (CRA). CRA is used to rank a portfolio of disparate risks, in determining the best opportunities for reducing risks to our health and environment, and applying limited resources accordingly. A national conference in November 1992 at the Center for Risk Management at Resources for the Future convened leaders from various fields and organizations to debate different ways to set environmental priorities. Viewpoints expressed at the conference are described. Three alternative paradigms for risk assessment are highlighted.
