Magnetic modelling in vehicle sensor design

There are many types of sensor that employ some form of magnetic field, ranging from the electro-mechanical reed switch to the popular Hall-effect sensor. AMR (anisotropic magneto resistive), GMR (giant magneto resistive) and other magnetic sensing technologies have unique advantages that provide improved cost or performance in many circumstances. To analyse the performance fully and optimise the design of such sensors, it is essential to understand and manipulate magnetic fields.
