Maybe it's the awesome natural beauty that surrounds them, but the cities of Colorado are feisty and tend to chart their own course. Recent expansion developments in Denver include the Colorado Convention Center, which, with the year-end completion, will have a total of 584,000 sf of contiguous exhibit space on one level; 100,000 sf of meeting space; and two ballrooms at 35,000 sf and 50,000 sf. In the wake of last year's $75 million propertywide expansion, the 700-room Broadmoor, Colorado Springs' largest convention hotel, is building a 60,000 sf state-of-the-art Events Center adjacent to the existing facilities of Colorado Hall and the International Center, bringing the total sf of meeting space from 114,000 to approximately 175,000 sf by 2005.
