Zusammenfassung:The net gains of Colombian insurers dropped sharply last year to only US$46 million because of the Andean economic recession. Another reason for the fall in profits was the technical restructuring undertaken by the sector in the wake of new government measures designed to fortify the industry financially. Nonetheless, in real terms, premium income rose 2.6% last year to some US$1.9 billion. Claims, in real terms, fell 1.7% to US$975 million.
