Car orders rise as rail transit flourishes

Congress voted for a 10% increase for Transit funding in Fiscal Year 1998, which makes the total amount of funding $4.84 billion. Capital improvements will receive $2 billion, and new rail starts and extensions for fixed guideway modernization will get $1.6 billion.
