Job hunting in a down economy: what does it take to succeed?

Getting an accurate handle on the type of business culture a specific company offers is something that can only be gained by asking a lot of the right questions. Don't be afraid to ask questions such as "What happened to the last person in this position?" I'm also often asked "Should I change positions in these uncertain times?" I usually advise that it depends on your current situation. Your decision shouldn't be any different because the market is slow. Just make sure you go through extra precautionary steps before making your final decision. Make certain you are moving for the right reasons and don't be swayed by a quick dollar as that's something that can prove particularly elusive during economic uncertainty.
