Zusammenfassung: | In this interview, Laura Merla explains that the analysis of different aid configurations highlights dynamic links within families, despite the distance introduced by the migration of some of their members. Professor of Sociology at the Catholic University of Louvain, Laura Merla leads several research projects on transnational family networks, grouped within the Transfam research program. She is the Director of the Center for Interdisciplinary Research on Families and Sexuality (Cirfase), a member of the Center for Development Studies (DVLP) and a founding member of Mind - the Mobility, Interculturality and Diversity research group. She is also an honorary research fellow at the University of Western Australia. In 2015 she obtained ERC Starting Grant funding for the project "MobileKids: Children in multi-local, post-separation families". She directed, with Loretta Baldassar,Transnational Families, Migration and the Circulation of Care. Understanding Mobility and Absence in Family Life (Routledge, 2014) and, with Aurore François, Distances and Links (Academia / L'Harmattan, 2014). |
