Evolution and revolution in the practice of medicine

At the start of a new millennium, pressure on physicians to join the information age mounts. Fortunately, when physicians look at the present state of medical information systems, the situation looks more hopeful than ever before. The movement to handheld computers will be evolutionary, but will bring about revolutionary changes in the practice of medicine. As the handheld becomes as indispensable as a physician's stethoscope, the expectations will escalate. Part of that escalation will likely include wireless connectivity.
