Zusammenfassung:In regard to comptrollership in the Navy, much has changed in 40 years. For example, organizationally, there is no longer a separate Office of the Navy Comptroller. There is now a combined Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Navy (ASN), which has 2 major subdivisions. In addition, within the Department of the Navy (DON), the audit function no longer reports to the ASN; it now reports directly to the Under Secretary. This change seems appropriate in light of the significant increase in requirements to audit financial statements.
