Drummond Co. Issues Second Round

Adding some flavor to the transaction, Drummond, although it is based in the U.S., has a coal mine in Colombia where most of its revenues are generated. The mine exports the coal up to the Southeastern United States utilities. Drummond operates a surface coal mine, as well as an underground coal mine, both located in Alabama. Drummond's Alabama mining operations extract about 6.4 million tons of coal annually. Through an affiliate, it mines in Colombia and operates a port facility there. Drummond also operates a coke plant in Alabama and a real- estate business that builds housing communities and office parks in California and Florida. Heman Drummond began the company in 1935.
