The new guidelines Jim McCarthy, president and CEO, North American Millers Association, Arlington, VA, provided some background on the push for more grains from the governmental perspective: "Earlier this year, the Department of Health and Human Services and USDA released the 2015-2020 Dietary Guidelines for Americans. Faith Jurek, consumer communications strategist, National Sorghum Producers, Lubbock, TX, cites some of the advantages of sorghum for consumers wanting to follow a gluten-free diet: "A strict gluten-free diet can be very challenging o follow, and there are concerns about the nutritional adequacy of gluten-free options, as they can be low in fiber, iron and B vitamins and high in fat and sugar."
