Would you calm down!?

After trying it successfully a few times in the University of Tennessee Audiology Clinic, we did a pilot study with CALM and found three things: a decrease in the children's high-anxiety behaviors, the ability to complete all our audiological tests, and an overwhelmingly positive parental reaction. Many of our clients show visible relief when they see there's nothing that will hurt them (no picture of shots!). * Point out the column of stars and explain how to place a star under each picture after finishing a task. * Familiarize the child with each procedure or task pictured on the board that will take place during the appointment. * Reward the child with a sticker once all stars are successfully placed on the board at the end of the appointment.
