Zusammenfassung: | During 1965.2012, the prevalence of cigarette smoking among adults (aged ≥18 years) in the US decreased from 42.4% to 18.1%, partly because of increases in smoking cessation. Quitting smoking is beneficial to health at any age, and cigarette smokers who quit before age 35 have premature mortality rates similar to those of persons who never smoked. Here, Lavinghouze et al describe a CDC analyzed data from the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System for the years 2001-2010 and 2011-2013 to provide updated state-specific trends in quit attempts among adult smokers. |
