In what seems like the blink of an eye, the cellphone has dramatically changed modern life. Since it hit the mass market 30 years ago, it's become the most rapidly adopted consumer technology in history, according to the Washington-DC-based Pew Research Centre. Still, how much it's changed people's lives may surprise you. Consider that in 1997, just 22% of Canadian households had cellphones. Today that number exceeds 75%. Landline owners are abandoning their home phones, and a majority of people 34 and younger use mobile devices exclusively.
