Zusammenfassung: | I never go to court without my iPad! My iPad first became crucial for all those things I need a computer for- with minimal weight, bulk, and almost endless battery life. The iPad seems to disappear into something even simpler than the classic legal pad. Our local court has the docket sheet with online excess to the court record. Without lugging along a pleadings file, I can access the docket the same way the court does. Those who don't have this technology are a step behind the conversation between court and counsel. (Any website can become an application simply by asking the Web browser to add that link to your home screen.) Security is another reason to have your iPad capable of almost constant conductivity. Apple has an app called Find my iPhone that works on the iPad too. It pings, even if the speaker is off and tells me the location of my iPhone or iPad device. Most importantly, Find my iPhone allows me to wipe the contents of a stolen device clean of all data. So unlike a briefcase full of paperwork, notes, and other treasures, the iPad replicates the data so you can find it, and allows you to destroy it remotely when disaster strikes. Evernote is a service that I find invaluable. Every time I go out for a business lunch, I photograph my receipt, instead of bringing it home in my pocket. This photo is then categorized as a receipt, filed in my incometax-records file in Evernote, geo-tracked, and time/date stamped, as well as tagged in any other way I want for database purposes. Evernote will store audio, video, or photographic files, and will allow me to clip and e-mail other items, such as Web pages, magazine and newspaper articles, etc., to my Evernote file. There are several applications that use the camera on the iPhone or iPad to create PDFs on the fly. |
