Zusammenfassung:Brown et al report the findings from Community Assessment for Public Health Emergency Response (CASPER) survey of household preparedness in two metropolitan counties in Tennessee. Results show that only 23% of respondents in Knox County and 31% in Davidson County reported being well-prepared for an emergency or disaster. Using CASPER in nondisaster settings to assess community preparedness enhances disaster response capabilities of health departments by simultaneously identifying community needs, strengthening workforce training, and improving Rapid Assessment of Populations Impacted by Disasters (RAPID) toolkits. A CDC editorial note is presented.
