It Takes a Plan

With an emphasis on preparing American workers for technology-rich careers, President Obama last year proposed the American Jobs Act, part of which would provide up to §30 billion for modernizing the nation's school buildings, including $5 billion for community college projects. If enacted, the legislation could begin to dent the estimated §100 billion in deferred maintenance that has kept the nation's community colleges from effectively adopting true 21st-century learning facilities.
