Antibodies to Acetylcholine Receptors in Assessment of the Efficacy of Pathogenetic Treatment Patients with Myasthenia

Zusammenfassung: | Antibodies to acetylcholine receptors (AChR) were studied in 25 patients with myasthenia before and during treatment with glucocorticoids and in 22 patients before and after thymectomy. In 62% of patients, treatment effects were combined with decreases in anti-AChR antibody concentrations by 20% or more. In 15% of cases, despite improvement in patients’ clinical status, anti-AChR antibody levels showed no change or increased. A direct correlation was found between the extent of clinical improvement and the extent of reductions in anti-AChR antibody concentrations. |
