Magnetic properties of Bi(Fe1 − xMx)O3 (M = Mn, Ti)

Zusammenfassung:The magnetic properties of Bi(Fe 1 − x M x )O 3 (M = Mn, Ti) solid solutions have been studied in magnetic fields of up to 11.2 × 10 3 kA/m, and the composition stability range of the R 3 c ferroelectric phase has been determined. The results indicate that partial Ti 4+ substitution for Fe 3+ leads to a transition from a modulated antiferromagnetic state to a homogeneous weakly ferromagnetic ferroelectric state ( x = 0.08), whereas the Bi(Fe 1− x 3+ Mn x 3+ )O 3 solid solutions do not exhibit weak ferromagnetism. Charge compensation in is assumed to be ensured by cation vacancies.
