Zusammenfassung: | Highlights ► Chronic pain is a severe and debilitating condition with a very high impact in the general population. ► mGlu receptors have been involved in the modulation of many forms of chronic pain, including inflammatory and neuropathic pain. ► Recent findings coming from the use of subtype-selective mGlu receptor ligands, together with the knockout strategy, have shed more light about the role of specific mGlu receptor subtypes in the modulation of pain processing. ► Pharmacological and epigenetic approaches to manage chronic pain through mGlu receptors are discussed here. |
