Transformation of the mouse clonal cell line R846-DP8 by Mississippi River, raw, and finished water samples from Southeastern Louisiana

Experiments were carried out to determine whether exposure to Mississippi river, raw, and finished water samples collected in southeastern Louisiana, could induce genetic changes in a mammalian cell system. The results, described with tables, show that morphological transformation of the cell strain occurred with 6 per cent of the Mississippi river water samples, 10 per cent of raw water, and 4 per cent of finished water samples.
