Production of 1220 × 17.8 mm electrowelded pipe from steel of strength category K60

An experimental batch of 1220 × 17.8 mm pipe has been produced from steel of strength category K60, for working pressures up to 9.8 MPa. Such pipe meets the most stringent current requirements. The geometric parameters and mechanical characteristics of the weld seam have been improved. In pipe production, layer-by-layer monitoring of the weld joint and near-seam zone by ultrasonic and X-ray methods reveals any discontinuities. The construction of state-of-the-art pipe-coating departments at OAO ChTPZ has ruled out external corrosion on the pipe in the course of operation.
