The effect of facial blood flow on ratings of blushing and negative affect during an embarrassing task: Preliminary findings

Highlights ► The vasodilator niacin increased facial blood flow during embarrassment. ► Niacin did not affect somatic symptoms or mood ratings. ► Cognitive appraisals or negative affect may override more subtle physiological cues of blushing in embarrassing situations.
