Associations of chlorinated hydrocarbons with fine particles and humic substances in nearshore surficial sediments

The relationships between chlorinated hydrocarbons and humic substances together with particle fractions finer than 8 mm in marine sediments are investigated. About 60-70% of total chlorinated hydrocarbon content in sediment is generally accounted for by p,p DDE. PCB's, mostly arochlor 1254, co...

Zusammenfassung:The relationships between chlorinated hydrocarbons and humic substances together with particle fractions finer than 8 mm in marine sediments are investigated. About 60-70% of total chlorinated hydrocarbon content in sediment is generally accounted for by p,p DDE. PCB's, mostly arochlor 1254, constitute almost 10-20% of the total. Total organic carbons and humic and fulvic acids bear a linear relation with concentrations of chlorinated hydrocarbons.
