Zusammenfassung: | Backscatter and attenuation coefficients were measured from 24 human calcanei in vitro. The logarithm of the backscatter coefficient at 500 kHz showed moderate correlations with bone mineral density (r=0.81, 95% confidence interval: 0.59-0.91) and attenuation (r=0.79, 95% CI: 0.56-0.91). These results suggest that backscatter measurements may be useful in the diagnosis of osteoporosis. |
