Mechanistic and Kinetic Studies of the Photodegradation of Benz[a]anthracene in the Presence of Methoxyphenols

The empirical rate law describing the rate of photodegradation of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in the presence of substituted methoxyphenols is assessed. A solution of benz(a)anthracene and vanillin in toluene was used as the model system.
