Zusammenfassung:A closed loop recirculating gas isopiestic apparatus was used to measure the association between toluene and humic acid. The association equilibrium could be described by a linear partition coefficient model in which the equilibrium constant was a function of the humic acid concentration. While solubilization of toluene by DOC did occur, it might be of limited significance in affecting overall distribution of toluene in natural and artificial aquatic systems. The apparatus used provided high precision data for the coefficients.
