Zusammenfassung:Abstract Neonatologists and paediatricians have a crucial role working with mothers at the most nutritionally challenged point in their lives and that of their infants. This position of responsibility is particularly important in tackling the re-emerging problem of hypovitaminosis D. In this overview the role of vitamin D, its contribution to pathology in those to whom we provide a service and possible actions will be considered.
