Zusammenfassung: | Given the ongoing debates regarding the environmental impact of trade openness and the increasing focus on managing climate change through reducing GHG emissions, this paper aims to contribute to the literature by: (i) exploring the dynamic interaction between trade, GHG emissions and other related economic factors in NAFTA; and (ii) evaluating whether expanding trade openness under NAFTA induces more GHG emissions by utilizing an ex post analysis. The analysis is generated for both Mexico and the US to evaluate the environmental impact of NAFTA in both a developed and a developing country. |
