A Medieval Enameled Beaker from Lisbon

Four fragments of glass with enameled decoration found between 1991 and 1995 during excavations at Rua dos Correeiros in Lisbon are highlighted. They allow most of the profile of a small beaker to be reconstructed. The subject of the decoration and the enameling technique suggest that this is a previously unknown member of the "Syro-Frankish" or "Aldrevandin" group of enameled glass vessels, which originated in Venice between the last two decades of the 13th and mid-14th century.
