A Radio-Fluorogenic Organic Gel for Real-Time, 3D Radiation Dosimetry
A radio‐fluorogenic gel makes it possible to visualize the spatial intensity of “invisible” ionizing radiation. This is illustrated for the gamma‐ray emission from a small seed of the radioactive 192Ir isotope of iridium. The underlying mechanism involves the conversion of a non‐fluorescent molecule...

Zusammenfassung: | A radio‐fluorogenic gel makes it possible to visualize the spatial intensity of “invisible” ionizing radiation. This is illustrated for the gamma‐ray emission from a small seed of the radioactive 192Ir isotope of iridium. The underlying mechanism involves the conversion of a non‐fluorescent molecule into a fluorescent form when incorporated into a radiation‐initiated, growing chain of a bulk monomer. |
