Zusammenfassung:The diagnostic utility of inducer and inhibitor based assays among 214 AmpC positive isolates of Pseudomonas aeruginosa were evaluated. Of different methods, combination of ceftazidime–imipenem antagonism and boronic acid inhibition tests came up with maximum sensitivity (76%) and specificity (100%). This combination showed reliability for both inducible and non-inducible AmpC producers. ► We evaluated the combination of inducer and inhibitor based method for AmpC detection in P. aeruginosa. ► Ceftazidime imipenem antagonism test proved to be better, detecting 24.6% inducible AmpC producers. ► Of inhibitors, boronic acid was more effectively detected AmpC in 30.7% isolates. ► We demonstrated that combination of CIAT along with boronic acid inhibition test could detect maximum AmpC producers. ► CIAT along with boronic acid inhibition test yielded maximum sensitivity (85%) and specificity (100%).
