Sarcomatoid Hepatocellular Carcinoma Diagnosed by FDG PET/CT

Sarcomatoid hepatocellular carcinoma is a rare histologic variant of hepatocellular carcinoma. We present a 72-year-old woman with a hepatic V segment neoplasm, whose tumor markers were all in normal range. Positron emission tomography/computed tomography images show intense uptake of FDG in her hepatic V segment and 2 porta hepatis nodes. Histopathology showed that the neoplasm was a malignant tumor not originating from hepatic cells, and lymph nodes were metastasis, while the neoplasm was revealed sarcomatoid hepatocellular carcinoma through immunohistochemistry.
