Zusammenfassung:In this study of the lobster population in the area of Moere and Romsdal during the lobster catch-season of 2008 (October - December), 5 552 lobsters were caught during 29 817 pot days. The catches were registered in three areas: Nordmoere, Romsdal and Sunnmoere. Median catches of lobsters per 100 pot days varied between 15.5 and 21.2 in Nordmoere, between 18.0 and 38.9 in Romsdal and between 10.8 and 14.5 in Sunnmoere from October to December. The average catches of lobster per 100 pot days were different between the geographical areas, but not between months. The average numbers of pot days per fisherman per month were not different between the geographical areas or months. Simple linear regression analysis showed that the catch of lobster per 100 pot days decreased with increasing effort. The average part of catches below 10 lobsters per 100 pot days was 23.5% in the three areas of the monitoring period. The results from this first study of the lobster stock in Moere and Romsdal may indicate that the lobster population is in a far better condition in Moere and Romsdal than further south in Norway. Large parts of Moere and Romsdal are well above the governmental set target of 10 lobsters per 100 pot days.
