Zusammenfassung:According to the Sudan Peoples' Liberation Movement (SPLM), which led the fight for independence, the regimes in Khartoum concentrated all develop ment in the north and denied southerners meaningful participation in government. According to the UN, the mine action sector cleared 2.9 million square metres of land and destroyed 1544 anti-personnel mines, 321 antitank mines, 60 137 small arms and ammunition, and 8590 items of unexploded ordnance in the past year.
