Zusammenfassung: | It is not necessary to discuss the meaning of the great thinker Feuerbach for the genesis of historical materialism. Not only the magnitude of his small and concise contribution to Engels, anyone who has carefully studied the posthumous edition of Mehring's writings on Marx and Engels should know the decisive impact that Feuerbach served in early thinking on Marx and Engels. Of course, a series of critical reservations soon followed the initial enthusiasm. Engels discussed various passages of his book (and Marx more thoroughly in his correspondence). The objection that Feuerbach found crucial and not elaborated upon in the historical material only puts aside the Hegelian dialectic and does not overcome the fact that the entirety of the position remains fixed in the bourgeois point of view.
