Zusammenfassung: | To the Editor, Although data indicate 3,4-Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA) and methamphetamine use in New England, little is known about recent specific MDMA and methamphetamine use in the state of Rhode Island [1,2]. [...]given the potential increased burden of these agents in our region, we decided to undertake a study to determine the types of amphetamines used in our local trauma patients. Of these, 0.6% was for MDMA, 0.3% for phenylpropanolamine (PPA), and 0.6% for amphetamine only (Fig. 1). [...]of the amphetamine-positive patients, 11 (37.9%) tested positive for MDMA, 6 (20.7%) for PPA, and 11 (37.9%) for amphetamine only. |
