Study of influence of prodigiozan-dependent comuton on slow efflux of calcium ions from the matrix of mitochondria of various tissue and species origins

Zusammenfassung:Earlier, Elbakidze et al showed that activation of Kupffer cells (KCs) in the liver by injecting the endotoxin prodigiozan into the bloodstream of the rat leads to accumulation in it of comuton, a low molecular weight regulator of mitochondrial processes. They found that the prodigiozan dependent comuton (PDC) can stimulate Ca2+ efflux from mitochondria of hepatocytes. To explain the physiological function of PDC, it was necessary to establish whether it was able to regulate Ca2+ efflux from the mitochondrial matrix.
