Zusammenfassung:Applies Pierre Achard's VOIR (to see) discourse analysis model to Louis Althusser's "Marxisme et humanisme" ([Marxism and Humanism] 1963). The model's three levels of description, based on Jean Benabou's (1990) notion of empirical ensemble & the theory's adaptation by Rene Guitart (1997), are explained. Focus is on markers that interrupt an ongoing persuasive discourse, particularly the French ON (one). It is argued that there is sometimes an unavoidable transparency of the framework when part of the interpretation depends entirely on the reader's perspective. Results indicate that the method is an effective means for identifying ambiguous interpretations that result from a writer's particular perspective. Written language may be classified as either restrictive or nonrestrictive in regard to interpretation; forms that function to project the views of the writer in a neutral rather than aggressive way mark restrictive language. 1 Table, 23 Figures, 22 References.
