It is observed that although frequently attested in journalistic register, it is generally ignored by lexicographers; however, two of its derivatives -- dispendio 'waste, extravagance' & dispendioso 'expensive' -- have become well assimilated in contemporary Spanish usage & can be found in most dictionaries.
