Zusammenfassung: | Recent educational debates concerning dyslexia, scripted reading programs, and federal mandates may appear to be new. However, a plethora of ideas, issues and discussions related to these topics abounded during the 1970s and 1980s. The purpose of this article is to briefly 1) describe the current revival of interest in dyslexia, 2) trace the development of scripted reading programs with an emphasis on their current usage due to federal mandates, and 3) propose recommendations for teachers and administrators to address these issues. |
