Zusammenfassung:In this paper, difficulties of stratifying sound correspondences are discussed. In principle, there is more than one way to stratify one-to-many correspondence without sound condition, and one often can not determine whether it is due to internal change or language contact. "A layer consistent with correspondences of kernel words" is proposed as the key stratum, which can be used to clarify the historical relationship between two or more languages.
