Zusammenfassung:A corpus of 218 Komi phytonyms containing zoonymic elements is analyzed, finding that most are native formations & only few are either Russian borrowings or calques. All animal species are represented in this class of phytonyms. The zoonymic elements occur in these phytonyms either independently or in combination with other elements. The presence of zoonyms in Komi phytonyms is motivated either by the physical resemblance between the animal's body & the plant's morphology or habitat similarities of the animal & the plant. 7 References.
