Zusammenfassung:The effects of key words and previewing on the rate of words read correctly and the comprehension of what was read by a language minority student were analyzed in the present study. Reading interventions consisting in discussion of key words in the context of the passage to be read, and practicing/listening to the passage to be read were evaluated. The findings indicated that the student read more words correctly and answered more comprehension questions accurately after the material was previewed and the key words were discussed. The findings demonstrate these teaching procedures to be effective when working with a language minority student.
