Literary Translation and Culture Consciousness: The Experience of Translating D. O. Fagunwa's Igbo Olodumare from Yoruba into English

A consideration of the numerous linguistic & cultural considerations involved in translating texts from indigenous African languages into European languages. Not only must the translator have language competency & cultural sensitivity to both the source (SL) & target language (TL), he/she must also have the ability to retain some of the rhythm & structure of the oral tradition inherent in the African text.
