Mikola's works in Hungarian language history, the origin of determinative conjugation, the phonology of Proto-Hungarian consonants, the history of word-final vowels in Permian, the origin of reduced vowels in Cheremis, & the origin of Finnish diphthongs are acknowledged as significant achievements in Finno-Ugric & Uralic linguistics. Mikola's special interest in Samoyed is noted, & some publications pertaining to this research domain are listed.
