Zusammenfassung: | Studies exploring social & cognitive development in language-impaired children are briefly reviewed. A communication-based program is described that is intended to help students develop strategies for dealing with the variety of linguistic materials & contexts encountered in school. The intervention principles or goals that form the foundation of the program include assisting students to become self-guided & active learners, recognize their own personal strengths & weaknesses, find environments that are minimally restrictive, & pursue their personal & vocational interests. Within these guidelines, development of a transdisciplinary team-teaching approach to literacy is described. 40 References. B. Annesser Murray |
