Zusammenfassung:The training of French teachers in Canada is discussed with reference to the government's bilingual education policies. The Canadian association of immersion language teachers has formulated an agenda that includes improved teacher training, acquisition of an acceptable level of linguistic competence by the end of the program, teaching of language & culture, & implementation of appropriate theories of second-language teaching & learning. The appropriateness of this agenda is considered with reference to the French language teaching situation in Saskatchewan. A questionnaire regarding language teaching needs & goals was completed by French teachers at varying levels (N = 477). Different goals are outlined for different levels of instruction. 2 Figures, 14 References. B. Annesser Murray
