Zusammenfassung: | A large number of works devoted to Eng punctuation were published between 1500 & 1800, but these have received little review. These works are of interest for the insights they provide into the development of understanding of suprasegmental features, & the relationship between spoken & written lang. Early interest in punctuation arose among translators & schoolteachers, as well as lawyers & grammarians. Early punctuation systems are classified according to the number of terms they place in the set of stops, ranging from three to six. Some sources of punctuation theory include early Hebrew texts. 102 References. B. Annesser Murray |
